The Appearance of Kumbhakarna and the Account of His Might
ध्रुवंलोकविनाशायपौलस्त्येनासिनिर्मितः ।तस्मात्त्वमद्यप्रभृतिमृतकल्पःशयिष्यसे ।।6.61.24।।
dhruvaṁ loka-vināśāya paulastyenāsi nirmitaḥ | tasmāt tvam adya-prabhṛti mṛta-kalpaḥ śayiṣyase ||
നിശ്ചയം പൗലസ്ത്യൻ നിന്നെ ലോകനാശത്തിനായി സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ട് ഇന്നുമുതൽ നീ മരിച്ചവനെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രയിൽ ശയിക്കണം.
"Surely you are begotten by Paulastya for the destruction of the universe. Therefore, remain sleeping like a dead one from today, ' said Brahma and cursed him."
When a being becomes a threat to all life, Dharma authorizes restraint for the protection of the world; punishment is framed as safeguarding cosmic order.
Brahmā addresses Kumbhakarṇa directly and imposes a curse-like restraint: prolonged sleep.
Protective justice: Brahmā acts to prevent large-scale harm, prioritizing the welfare of the world.
