The Token of Recognition (Chūḍāmaṇi) and the Crow Episode Recalled
इत्युक्तवति तस्मिंस्तु सीता सुरसुतोपमा।उवाच शोकसन्तप्ता हनुमन्तं प्लवङ्गमम्।।5.38.55।।
ity uktavati tasmiṃs tu sītā surasutopamā | uvāca śokasantaptā hanumantaṃ plavaṅgamam ||5.38.55||
അവൻ ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ, ദേവകുമാരിയെപ്പോലെയുള്ള സീത ദുഃഖത്താൽ ദഹിച്ച് വാനരനായ ഹനുമാനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
"Hanuman having spoken this way, Sita, resembling a god's daughter, grieving, thus addressed Hanuman:
The verse frames suffering without loss of dignity: Sītā remains ‘blameless’ and noble even in grief, highlighting endurance and moral steadiness under adversity.
A narrative handover: after Hanumān’s reassurance, the text transitions to Sītā’s reply.
