Sita’s Lament and Resolve under Threat

नैवास्ति दोषो मम नूनमत्र वध्याहमस्याप्रियदर्शनस्य।भावं न चास्याहमनुप्रदातु मलं द्विजो मन्त्रमिवाद्विजाय।।5.28.5।।

naivāsti doṣo mama nūnam atra vadhyāham asyāpriyadarśanasya | bhāvaṃ na cāsyāham anupradātuṃ malaṃ dvijo mantram ivādvijāya ||5.28.5||

തീർച്ചയായും ഇവിടെ ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ മരിച്ചാലും അതിൽ എന്റെ കുറ്റമില്ല; ആ ദുഷ്ടദർശനൻ എന്നെ വധിക്കാനാണ് വിധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. അവനോട് ഹൃദയം കീഴടങ്ങുകയോ അംഗീകാരം നൽകുകയോ എനിക്കു യുക്തമല്ല—അയോഗ്യനോട് ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ പവിത്രമന്ത്രം പകർന്നുനൽകാത്തതുപോലെ.
