Sita’s Lament and Prophecy of Lanka’s Ruin
धन्या देवास्सगन्धर्वाः सिद्धाश्च परमर्षयः।।।।मम पश्यन्ति ये नाथं रामं राजीवलोचनम्।
dhanyā devāḥ sagandharvāḥ siddhāś ca paramarṣayaḥ |
mama paśyanti ye nāthaṃ rāmaṃ rājīvalocanam ||
ധന്യരാണ് ദേവന്മാർ, ഗന്ധർവന്മാരോടുകൂടെ, സിദ്ധന്മാരും പരമർഷിമാരും—എൻ നാഥനായ താമരക്കണ്ണൻ രാമനെ ദർശിക്കുന്നവർ.
"Would it be that the heroic elder brother of Lakshmana has gone to the abode of gods unable to find me on this earth?
Dharma is associated with the vision of the righteous: those aligned with truth and purity are ‘blessed’ to behold Rāma, the dharmic ideal; separation from such righteousness is felt as deprivation.
Sītā mourns that she cannot see Rāma, and calls fortunate the celestial and perfected beings who can behold him.
Rāma’s sanctity and exemplary character (as perceived by Sītā), and Sītā’s devoted, dharma-rooted love.
