रावणान्तःपुरे शयनदर्शनम्
Hanumān Observes Rāvaṇa’s Inner Apartments and Sleeping Court
आस्फोटयामास चुचुम्ब पुच्छं ननन्द चिक्रीड जगौ जगाम।स्तम्भानरोहन्निपपात भूमौ निदर्शयन् स्वां प्रकृतिं कपीनाम्।।।।
āsphoṭayāmāsa cucumba pucchaṃ nananda cikrīḍa jagau jagāma |
stambhān arohan nipapāta bhūmau nidarśayan svāṃ prakṛtiṃ kapīnām ||
അവൻ കൈയടിച്ചു, തന്റെ വാൽ ചുംബിച്ചു; ആനന്ദിച്ചു, കളിച്ചു, പാടി, നടന്നു—സ്തംഭങ്ങളിൽ കയറി നിലത്തേക്ക് ചാടിവീണു—ഇങ്ങനെ കപികളുടെ സ്വഭാവം തന്നെ പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു.
He rejoiced clapping his palms, kissing his tail and jumping up, climbing up the pillars and jumping down on the ground in joy. Thus he exhibited his monkey nature.ityārṣē śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē sundarakāṇḍē daśamassargaḥ.Thus ends the tenth sarga of Sundarakanda of the holy Ramayana, the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
Joy is natural, but dharma requires composure and truth: the scene foreshadows that emotion must be governed by verification, not mere excitement.
Believing he has found Sita, Hanuman briefly celebrates exuberantly, behaving in a distinctly monkey-like manner.
Sincere devotion and emotional openness, tempered (in the broader episode) by the later return to discernment and truth.
