मृदुशष्पाङ्कुराहारान्निर्भयान्वनगोचरान्।चरतस्सर्वतौऽपश्यन् स्थलीषु हरिणान् स्थितान्।।
mṛduśaṣpāṅkurāhārān nirbhayān vanagocarān | carataḥ sarvato 'paśyan sthalīṣu hariṇān sthitān ||
ചുറ്റുമെങ്ങും അവർ വനത്തിൽ നിർഭയമായി സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന മാൻകളെ കണ്ടു; അവ മൃദുവായ പുല്ലിൻ മുളകൾ തിന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു—ചിലത് തുറന്ന നിലത്തുനിന്നും ചിലത് എല്ലാടവും നടന്നു സഞ്ചരിച്ചും.
