भगवंश्चापहस्तोऽहं सरयूतीरमागतः।जिघांसुश्श्वापदं कञ्चिन्निपाने चाऽगतं गजम्।।।।
bhagavaṃś cāpahasto 'haṃ sarayūtīram āgataḥ | jighāṃsuḥ śvāpadaṃ kañcin nipāne cāgataṃ gajam ||
ഭഗവൻ, വില്ല് കൈയിൽ പിടിച്ച് ഞാൻ സരയൂ നദീതീരത്തേക്ക് ചെന്നു; ജലപാനസ്ഥാനത്ത് വന്നിരുന്ന ഒരു ഗജത്തെ—ഒരു വന്യമൃഗമെന്നു കരുതി—കൊല്ലുവാൻ ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചു.
