लक्ष्मणक्रोधः—दैवपुरुषकारविवादः

न चाहं कामयेऽत्यर्थं यस्स्याच्छत्रुर्मतो मम।।।।असिना तीक्ष्णधारेण विद्युच्चलितवर्चसा।प्रगृहीतेन वै शत्रुं वज्रिणं वा न कल्पये।।।।

na cāhaṃ kāmaye ’tyarthaṃ yas syāc chatrur mato mama | asinā tīkṣṇadhāreṇa vidyuccalitavarcasā | pragṛhītena vai śatruṃ vajriṇaṃ vā na kalpaye || 2.23.31 ||

ആരെങ്കിലും എന്റെ ശത്രുവെന്നു കരുതപ്പെടണമെന്നു ഞാൻ ഒരിക്കലും അത്യന്തമായി ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല; എന്നാൽ മിന്നലുപോലെ ദീപ്തിയുള്ള തീക്ഷ്ണധാര വാൾ കൈയിൽ പിടിച്ചാൽ, ആ ശത്രുവിനെ—വജ്രധാരിയായ ഇന്ദ്രനെയായാലും—ഞാൻ വിട്ടുകളയുകയില്ല.
