इति ब्रुवति रामे तु लक्ष्मणोऽधश्शिरा मुहुः।श्रृत्वा मध्यं जगामेव मनसा दुःखहर्षयोः।।।।

iti bruvati rāme tu lakṣmaṇo ’dhaśśirā muhuḥ | śrutvā madhyaṃ jagāmeva manasā duḥkha-harṣayoḥ ||

രാമൻ ഇങ്ങനെ പറയുമ്പോൾ ലക്ഷ്മണൻ തലകുനിച്ച് വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും കേട്ടുനിന്നു; അവന്റെ മനസ് ദുഃഖവും പെട്ടെന്നുള്ള ഹർഷവും—ഇരുവയ്ക്കുമിടയിലെ മദ്ധ്യസ്ഥാവസ്ഥയിലേക്കു വഴുതിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
