Sumantra Meets Rama; Rama Departs to See the King
नूनं नन्दति ते माता कौशल्यामातृनन्दन।।।।पश्यन्ती सिद्धयात्रं त्वां पित्र्यं राज्यमवस्थितम्।
nūnaṃ nandati te mātā kauśalyāmātṛnandana |
paśyantī siddhayātraṃ tvāṃ pitryaṃ rājyam avasthitam ||
കൗശല്യാമാതൃനന്ദനേ! നിന്റെ യാത്ര സഫലമായി, പിതൃരാജ്യത്തിൽ ഉറച്ച നിലയിൽ നിന്നിരിക്കുന്ന നിന്നെ കണ്ടാൽ നിന്റെ മാതാവ് കൗശല്യ തീർച്ചയായും ആനന്ദിക്കും.
On seeing (Sumantra) arriving, all of them, wellwishers to Rama, quickly rose from their seats.
The verse links dharma with rightful succession and filial legitimacy: a son established in the father’s kingdom is seen as the fulfillment of social and familial order.
Ayodhya’s women praise Rama as he passes, imagining Kausalyā’s joy at his secure standing in the paternal realm.
Rama as the ideal son and rightful heir—one whose life’s purpose is aligned with duty and kingship.
