एकाहमपि पश्येयं यद्यहं राममातरम्।अञ्जलिं प्रतिगृह्णन्तीं श्रेयो ननु मृतिर्मम।।।।

ekāham api paśyeyaṃ yady ahaṃ rāmamātaram |

añjaliṃ pratigṛhṇantīṃ śreyo nanu mṛtir mama || 2.12.48 ||

രാമന്റെ മാതാവ് (കൗസല്യ) മറ്റുള്ളവരില്‍ നിന്ന് വന്ദനം സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നത് ഒരു ദിവസമെങ്കിലും കാണേണ്ടി വന്നാല്‍, എനിക്ക് മരണമാണ് നല്ലത്.
