The Severing of Kabandha’s Arms and the Opening of Dialogue
dakṣiṇo dakṣiṇaṃ bāhum asaktam asinā tataḥ | ciccheda rāmo vegena savyaṃ vīras tu lakṣmaṇaḥ ||
The cruel, ferocious demon heard them talk. He opened his mouth and attempted to eat both of them.
Coordinated, measured force in defense of life is legitimate; dharma in battle includes precision and restraint rather than cruelty.
The narration specifies how each brother strikes, severing one arm each to stop Kabandha.
Competent cooperation—Rama and Lakshmana act in complementary roles with speed and control.
