खरस्य क्रोधः — शूर्पणखावृत्तान्तकथनम्

ततस्तु ते तं समुदग्रतेजसं तथापिऽतीक्ष्णप्रदरा निशाचराः।न शेकुरेनं सहसा प्रमर्दितुं वनद्विपा दीप्तमिवाग्निमुत्थितम्।।।।

tatas tu te taṃ samudagratejasaṃ tathāpi tīkṣṇapradarā niśācarāḥ | na śekur enaṃ sahasā pramardituṃ vanadvipā dīptam ivāgnim utthitam ||

അപ്പോൾ ആ നിശാചര രാക്ഷസർ—മൂർച്ചയുള്ള, ഭേദക ആയുധങ്ങളോടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നിട്ടും—അത്യന്തം തേജസ്സുള്ള അവനെ ഒരേ വേളയിൽ തകർക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല; വനയാനകൾ പുതുതായി ഉയർന്ന ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന കാട്ടുതീയെ നേരിടാൻ കഴിയാത്തതുപോലെ।
