Unspecified (context-dependent within Svarga-khaṇḍa 52; likely within a dialogue tradition such as Pulastya → Bhīṣma).

Concept: Purity is protected by respecting boundaries—public, private, and sacred; one must not appropriate what is improper, leftover, or contextually polluted.

Application: Do not take resources from inappropriate places (publicly dirty, sacredly restricted, or privately owned); avoid using leftovers; cultivate respect for shared and sacred spaces.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka

Type: city

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A didactic scene shows a practitioner pausing at a crossroads: a dusty public road, a cracked barren patch, a temple courtyard, a well, and a private home—each subtly marked as ‘do not take from here.’ He turns instead toward a clean, permissible spot, embodying restraint and reverence for boundaries.","primary_figures":["brāhmaṇa practitioner","temple attendant (optional)"],"setting":"village edge with a small Vishnu temple courtyard, a stone well, a roadside path with footprints, a barren saline patch, and a modest house compound wall","lighting_mood":"forest dappled (late morning) with a calm instructional tone","color_palette":["stone gray","dust brown","temple vermilion","leafy green","sky pale blue"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: moral-instruction tableau with multiple vignettes—road, barren land, temple precinct, well, residence—each framed with ornate gold borders; central figure gestures ‘no’ with composed face; gold leaf on temple gopura details, rich reds/greens, traditional iconographic symmetry.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: narrative landscape divided into gentle compartments; delicate architecture for the temple and well, soft earth tones for the road and barren patch; the figure’s subtle gesture conveys prohibition; refined, lyrical realism.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines and symbolic panels; each forbidden source rendered as a clear icon (road, uṣara, devāyatana, kūpa, dhāman); warm red-yellow background with green accents; temple-wall didactic composition.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: border of lotuses and geometric motifs; central figure near a small shrine; stylized icons for ‘forbidden’ places arranged like mandala petals; deep blue ground with gold and vermilion highlights, intricate floral filigree."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"narrative","suggested_raga":"Desh","pace":"moderate-narrative","voice_tone":"authoritative","sound_elements":["distant temple bell","village ambience","wind over dry ground","well pulley creak","brief hush at prohibitions"]}

FAQs

It lists sources considered improper for taking or accepting something (typically understood as food, water, or items meant for ritual use), emphasizing cleanliness, propriety, and respect for sacred spaces.

They are treated as locations where contamination, public use, or sanctity concerns apply—so the verse advises avoiding acquisition/consumption from such places to maintain śauca (purity) and decorum.

Disciplined restraint: one should be mindful about sources, avoid what is socially or spiritually inappropriate, and cultivate conscientious conduct in everyday life.
