devadūta tato brūhi kāruṇyānmama pṛcchataḥ | narakānniṣkṛtiḥ sadyo bhrāturme jāyate katham
An unnamed inquirer addressing a devadūta (divine messenger)
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
Type: celestial_realm
The speaker asks a divine messenger to explain, compassionately and clearly, the means by which the speaker’s brother can obtain immediate release (niṣkṛti) from hell (naraka).
Niṣkṛti implies release or deliverance—often through atonement, remedial rites, or spiritually efficacious acts—specifically deliverance from the consequences that lead to or sustain suffering in naraka.
It highlights compassion and responsibility toward others—especially family—by seeking guidance to alleviate another’s suffering and by valuing remedial action over indifference.
