FAQs

It presents a Purāṇic cosmology in which the realm of day-and-night and the planetary bodies (starting with the Moon) are situated at a specified distance from the earth and move according to an ordained cosmic order (vidhi).

Not directly; it is primarily descriptive cosmology. Indirectly, it supports a worldview of an ordered universe governed by divine ordinance, which Purāṇas often connect to reverence for the divine regulator of cosmic law.

It underscores the theme of order and regulation in the universe: even vast celestial movements are not random but proceed under a governing principle, encouraging trust in dharma and disciplined conduct aligned with cosmic order.
