Pulastya (in dialogue with Bhīṣma)

Concept: Specific sattvic actions (planting/protecting particular trees) yield correspondingly specific fruits—ritual merit, longevity, and household prosperity.

Application: Adopt ‘one tree vow’: plant a tree aligned with your intention (health, family harmony) and care for it as a long-term offering; pair it with mantra-japa or simple daily gratitude.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

FAQs

It assigns specific boon-bestowing powers (phala-śruti) to certain sacred trees—merit of sacrifice, longevity, and fulfillment of family-life aspirations—reflecting the Purāṇic idea that dharmic reverence brings tangible results.

Such statements function as phala-śruti (promised outcomes) to encourage protection and veneration of life-sustaining trees, framing social aims (marriage, progeny, longevity) within a dharmic ecology.

The emphasis is primarily on ritual merit and auspicious results (yajña-phala, āyus, household prosperity). In the Sṛṣṭi-khaṇḍa context, it supports dharma through sanctifying natural objects rather than presenting a distinct sectarian bhakti doctrine.
