पुराणेष्वितिहासोयं पठ्यते राजसत्तम । प्राप्य पक्षं शुभं शुक्लं संप्राप्ते चोत्तरायणे

purāṇeṣvitihāsoyaṃ paṭhyate rājasattama | prāpya pakṣaṃ śubhaṃ śuklaṃ saṃprāpte cottarāyaṇe

ഹേ രാജശ്രേഷ്ഠാ, ശുഭമായ ശുക്ലപക്ഷം ലഭിക്കുകയും ഉത്തരായണം ആരംഭിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന സമയത്ത് പുരാണങ്ങളിൽ ഈ പുണ്യചരിതം പാരായണം ചെയ്യപ്പെടുന്നു।
