Dālbhya

Concept: Pride during pleasure (even in celestial enjoyment) invites corrective wisdom; the sage’s arrival signals dharma’s intervention in indulgence.

Application: When life is comfortable, invite counsel and self-audit; treat criticism from the wise as grace, not insult.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shringara

Type: tirtha

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"At the crystalline Mānasa lake, apsarās laugh in water-play, their jeweled anklets scattering ripples like stars. From the shore, Nārada approaches—calm, radiant, vīṇā in hand—his gaze both compassionate and piercing, foreshadowing a moral turning.","primary_figures":["Dālbhya (as narrator presence)","Nārada","Apsarās"],"setting":"Mānasa lake with snow peaks in the distance, lotus clusters, swans, and a rocky shore near Kailāsa-like mountains","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["glacial turquoise","snow white","lotus pink","peacock blue","sunlit gold"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Mānasa lake rendered as stylized turquoise waves; apsarās in ornate silk and gold jewelry mid-water-play; Nārada on the shore with vīṇā, gold leaf halo, conch-shell whites and ruby reds, heavy gilded borders, gem-like highlights on ornaments.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: serene Himalayan lake with delicate ripples; apsarās in graceful poses, translucent veils; Nārada approaching with vīṇā; cool mountain palette, fine facial features, lyrical naturalism, distant snow peaks and pine silhouettes.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines and flat color fields; apsarās in rhythmic composition within the lake; Nārada frontal with vīṇā and halo; red/yellow/green pigments, stylized lotus and swan motifs, temple mural texture.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: lake scene framed by dense lotus borders; swans and peacocks around; central Nārada figure with vīṇā; deep indigo water with gold wave patterns, intricate floral filigree, ornamental symmetry."}

FAQs

It references Mānasa-saras (Lake Mānasa), presenting it as a notable sacred locale where divine or exemplary events and teachings can occur.

Indirectly: by introducing Nārada—classically portrayed as a teacher of devotion and spiritual instruction—the verse sets the stage for guidance that often culminates in bhakti-oriented counsel.

Pride is highlighted as a spiritual obstacle; the arrival of a sage like Nārada implies correction through wisdom, encouraging humility and receptivity to instruction.
