Tapodhana (an ascetic sage narrator within the chapter context)

Concept: When a vow is performed and the devotee is honored by devas, the ultimate fruit is entry into Viṣṇu’s blissful abode; the sage then promulgates a specific vrata (Anangadāna) for women.

Application: Channel desire into dharmic forms—offerings, restraint, and prayer—so that human impulses become steps toward purification and devotion.

FAQs

The verse states that, after being honored by all the gods, she attains Viṣṇu’s bliss-giving abode—presented as the supreme fruit (phala) of her merit.

It is a vow (vrata) characterized by a devotional gift/offering (dāna) connected with Ananga (Kāma). The verse frames it as a prescribed observance specifically for women (aṃganā).

It emphasizes that reverence, devotion, and disciplined observance (vrata) culminate in exalted spiritual attainment, and that religious practices are transmitted through authoritative teaching by ascetic sages.
