Ravana’s Austerities, the Gods’ Refuge, and the Decree of Rama’s Incarnation

ityuktvā virarāmāśu nabhasīritavāṅmune | devāḥ śrutvā mahadvākyaṃ sarve saṃhṛṣṭamānasāḥ

FAQs

The verse describes a muni whose speech is portrayed as resounding through the sky (nabhasīrita-vāk). The specific identity depends on the surrounding narrative of Adhyaya 7; this line itself functions as a poetic epithet rather than a direct naming.

It indicates an inner, mental joy—delight and uplift in the heart—showing that the utterance they heard was auspicious, authoritative, or spiritually elevating.

It highlights the power of truthful, elevated speech: when a wise teaching is spoken and heard with receptivity, it can harmonize and gladden even divine assemblies—implying that dharmic words and attentive listening have transformative force.
