Yayāti’s Proclamation: Spreading the Nectar of the Divine Name

All-Vaiṣṇava Gift

यो मामकं वाक्यमिहैव मानवो लोभाद्विमोहादपि नैव कारयेत् । स शास्यतां यास्यति निर्घृणो ध्रुवं ममापि चौरो हि यथा निकृष्टः

yo māmakaṃ vākyamihaiva mānavo lobhādvimohādapi naiva kārayet | sa śāsyatāṃ yāsyati nirghṛṇo dhruvaṃ mamāpi cauro hi yathā nikṛṣṭaḥ

Unspecified (verse is framed as an authoritative command by a superior figure; exact speaker not provided in the input)

Concept: Disobedience to righteous command—born of greed and delusion—invites punishment; adharma is theft against the moral order and against the Lord’s representative authority.

Application: Notice where greed or confusion makes you postpone right action; keep commitments; treat ethical obligations as sacred; correct small ‘thefts’ (time, trust, resources) before they harden into character.

Primary Rasa: raudra

Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka

Type: city

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A commanding royal figure stands in a court, hand raised in stern injunction, while a shadowy figure representing greed and delusion recoils. Behind the throne, a subtle emblem of Nārāyaṇa (conch and discus) suggests that the command is anchored in sacred order; guards and scribes witness the decree being recorded.","primary_figures":["a righteous king (or authoritative superior)","court scribes","royal guards","a disobedient subject (symbolic)","Nārāyaṇa emblems (śaṅkha-cakra)"],"setting":"Royal court hall with pillars, banners, and a decree scroll; a moral-drama atmosphere rather than a battlefield.","lighting_mood":"temple lamp-lit","color_palette":["deep maroon","antique gold","smoke gray","midnight blue","ivory white"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: regal court scene with the king enthroned under a gold-leaf arch; raised hand of command, stern expression; scribes with palm-leaf manuscripts; śaṅkha-cakra motifs embossed in gold behind; rich maroons and greens, heavy jewelry, gem-like highlights, dramatic symmetry.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: refined court interior with delicate architectural lines; the king admonishing a hesitant subject; subtle symbolic clouds of ‘lobha’ and ‘moha’ painted as dark wisps; cool palette with precise facial expressions, understated drama.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines; king as central figure with commanding gesture; flanking attendants; stylized demon-like silhouettes labeled by iconography as greed/delusion; strong red-yellow-green blocks, narrative panel composition.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: moral allegory textile—central throne with conch-disc halo motifs; border of repeating lotus and flame patterns; figures arranged symmetrically like a devotional drama; deep blues and gold with intricate ornamentation."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"dramatic","suggested_raga":"Bhairavi","pace":"fast-dramatic","voice_tone":"authoritative","sound_elements":["court drum","sharp temple bell strikes","echoing footsteps","brief silence after warning"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes:

FAQs

It warns that refusing to follow a rightful command due to greed or delusion leads to certain punishment, marking the person as morally blameworthy.

Because withholding or violating what is owed to rightful authority (the speaker’s command) is treated like theft—an act of betrayal and moral depravity.

The verse explicitly names lobha (greed) and vimoha (delusion/confusion) as the drivers that lead a person to neglect dharmic instruction.
