विष्णुरुवाच । कुरुक्षेत्रे महाक्षेत्रे कुंडलो नाम ब्राह्मणः । सुकर्मा नाम सत्पुत्रः कुंडलस्य महात्मनः

വിഷ്ണു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു—കുരുക്ഷേത്രം എന്ന മഹാക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ കുണ്ഡലൻ എന്നൊരു ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ വസിച്ചിരുന്നു. ആ മഹാത്മാവായ കുണ്ഡലന്റെ സുകർമാ എന്ന സദ്പുത്രൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
