शृणु त्वं मामकं वाक्यं मानं त्यज महामते । नाहं गीतं प्रकुत्सामि गीतं वंदामि नान्यथा

śṛṇu tvaṃ māmakaṃ vākyaṃ mānaṃ tyaja mahāmate | nāhaṃ gītaṃ prakutsāmi gītaṃ vaṃdāmi nānyathā

എന്റെ വാക്ക് കേൾക്കുക, മഹാമതേ; അഹങ്കാരം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുക. ഞാൻ ഗീതത്തെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നില്ല; ഗീതത്തെയേ വന്ദിക്കുന്നു, മറ്റെങ്ങനെല്ല.
