സ്ത്രീ പറഞ്ഞു—“ഹേ വിപ്രാ, നിന്റെ കാര്യമെന്നോണം നിന്റെ പുത്രൻ വേദശർമൻ ഇതു അയച്ചതാണ്. സ്വന്തം കൈകൊണ്ട് മുറിച്ച ഈ ശിരസ് സ്വീകരിക്കൂ.”

A woman is speaking, addressing a brāhmaṇa (vipra), stating that something has been sent for his sake by his son Vedaśarman.
The verse reports that Vedaśarman has sent a severed head—cut off by his own hand—and the woman instructs the brāhmaṇa to take it up.
It foregrounds a conflict between duty and extreme self-harm: the claim that an act was done “for your sake” invites reflection on responsibility, intention, and the limits of sacrifice within dharma.
