Description of the Pilgrimage to the Sacred Tīrthas
Kurukṣetra-yātrā-krama
snāto hyanarake tīrthe mucyate sarvakilbiṣaiḥ | tato gacchennaro devi kāmyakaṃ vanamuttamam || 114 ||
Narada (addressing Devī / the Goddess in the tirtha-mahatmya narration)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It presents tīrtha-snānā (ritual bathing at a holy ford) as a direct means of purification, stating that bathing at Anaraka Tīrtha removes all kilbiṣa (sin/impurity) and then prescribes onward pilgrimage to Kāmyaka Vana.
While not explicitly naming Viṣṇu-bhakti, the verse supports bhakti-culture through tīrtha-yātrā: purification by sacred bathing prepares the pilgrim for deeper worship and merit-accruing visits to revered holy places like Kāmyaka forest.
It reflects Kalpa/ritual practice (tīrtha-snānā as a purificatory act) and the dhārmic sequencing of pilgrimage—bathe first for śuddhi (purity), then proceed to the next prescribed sacred site.
