It frames certain sacred liṅgas as divinely instituted (by Brahmā) for specific cosmic purposes, reinforcing the tirtha-mahātmya idea that particular shrines carry unique, intention-based spiritual potency.
By highlighting named liṅgas established for a divine reason, the verse encourages focused devotion at specific forms/abodes of the Lord—bhakti expressed through reverent worship of a consecrated symbol tied to a sacred place.
Ritual application is implied: liṅga-sthāpana (installation/consecration) belongs to kalpa/ritual procedure—how sacred icons are established with purpose and proper rites in a tirtha context.
