The Characteristics of Devotion to Hari

Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: raudra (anger)
Secondary Rasa: bhakti (devotion)
It condemns human arrogance that ignores the ever-present Lord (Vishnu) and highlights pride (mada) as a primary cause of spiritual blindness and loss of devotion.
Bhakti begins with humility and recognition of Vishnu as Jagannatha; the verse warns that pride prevents “bhajana” (loving worship/service), even when divine support is near and available.
No specific Vedanga (like Vyakarana, Jyotisha, or Kalpa) is taught here; the practical takeaway is ethical discipline—cultivating humility to make one fit for mantra, puja, and other Narada Purana rituals.
