Dhvajāropaṇa and Dhvajāgopaṇa: Procedure, Stotra, and Phala (Merit) of Raising Viṣṇu’s Flag
hṛdayastho'pi dūrastho māyayā mohitātmanām | jñānināṃ sarvago yastu sa me viṣṇuḥ prasīdatu || 34 ||
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It teaches that the Lord (Viṣṇu) is simultaneously immanent (in the heart) and transcendent; distance from Him is a perception created by Māyā, while wisdom reveals His all-pervasive presence and invites His grace.
Bhakti here is expressed as a prayer for Viṣṇu’s prasāda (grace), grounded in right vision: when one turns from Māyā’s delusion and remembers Him as present within and everywhere, devotion becomes steady and intimate rather than distant.
No specific Vedāṅga technique (like Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or Kalpa) is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is discernment (viveka) between Māyā-born appearance and the jñānin’s understanding of the all-pervading Brahman/Viṣṇu.
