सूत उवाच । श्रुत्वा सनंदनस्येत्थं वचनं नारदो मुनिः । असंतुष्ट इव प्राह भ्रातरं तं सनंदनम् ॥ १ ॥

സൂതൻ പറഞ്ഞു—സനന്ദനന്റെ ഇത്തരത്തിലുള്ള വചനം ശ്രവിച്ച മുനി നാരദൻ, പൂർണ്ണമായി തൃപ്തനായില്ലെന്നപോലെ, ആ സഹോദരനായ സനന്ദനനെ അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്തു പറഞ്ഞു.
