bharadvāja uvāca | kathaṃ jīvo vicarati nānāyoniṣu saṃtatam | kathaṃ muktiśca saṃsārājjāyate tasya mānada || 7 ||
Bharadvaja
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: karuna
It frames the central Moksha-Dharma inquiry: why the jīva undergoes repeated births (saṃsāra) and what causes the rise of liberation (mukti), preparing the ground for the Purāṇa’s soteriological teaching.
This verse is an opening question rather than a method; it sets up the need for a liberating means. In Narada Purana’s Moksha context, that means is typically clarified as devotion to the Supreme (often Viṣṇu) along with right understanding and disciplined conduct.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or Kalpa) is taught in this verse; it is a philosophical query focused on saṃsāra and mokṣa rather than ritual procedure or technical science.
