श्रीब्रह्मोवाच । अथातः संप्रवक्ष्यामि तवाग्नेयपुराणकम् । ईशानकल्पवृत्तांतं वसिष्ठायानलोऽब्रवीत् ॥ १ ॥

ശ്രീബ്രഹ്മാവ് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു—ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു അഗ്നേയപുരാണം വ്യക്തമായി പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നു; ഈശാനകൽപ്പത്തിലെ ആ വൃത്താന്തം അഗ്നിദേവൻ വസിഷ്ഠനോട് പറഞ്ഞതാകുന്നു।
