Adhyaya 93 — The Goddess’s Boons to Suratha and the Merchant (Conclusion of the Devi Mahatmyam)
एवं देव्याः वरं लब्ध्वा सुरथः क्षत्रियर्षभः ।
सूर्याज्जन्म समासाद्य सावर्णिर्भविता मनुः ॥
evaṃ devyā varaṃ labdhvā surathaḥ kṣatriyarṣabhaḥ | sūryāj janma samāsādya sāvarṇir bhavitā manuḥ ||
ഇങ്ങനെ ദേവിയുടെ പ്രസാദത്താൽ വരം പ്രാപിച്ച ക്ഷത്രിയവൃഷഭനായ സുരഥൻ, പിന്നീട് സൂര്യനിൽ നിന്ന് ജന്മം നേടി ‘സാവർണി’ എന്ന നാമമുള്ള മനുവായി ഭൂമിയിൽ ആയിത്തീർന്നു.
