Adhyaya 9 — Vasiṣṭha and Viśvāmitra’s Mutual Curse: The Āḍi–Baka Battle and Brahmā’s Pacification
प्रत्युवाच च विश्वेशास्तावुभावतिको पितौ ।
युद्धं वा विरमत् वेतल्लोकाः स्वास्थ्यं व्रजन्तु च ॥
pratyuvāca ca viśveśas tāv ubhāv ati-kopitau /
yuddhaṃ vā viramatv etal lokāḥ svāsthyaṃ vrajantu ca
അപ്പോൾ വിശ്വേശ്വരൻ അത്യന്തം ക്രുദ്ധരായ ആ രണ്ടുപേരോടു പറഞ്ഞു—“ഈ യുദ്ധം നിർത്തുക, ലോകങ്ങൾ വീണ്ടും ക്ഷേമത്തിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങട്ടെ.”

The highest dharma in governance is loka-saṃgraha—preventing harm to the many. Even justified conflict must be restrained when it destroys the common good.
Falls under didactic narrative rather than formal pañcalakṣaṇa. It exemplifies Purāṇic instruction through story: cosmic authorities uphold order by curbing adharma.
The ‘Lord of the universe’ voice is the inner regulator (buddhi/ṛta) commanding the raging dualities to subside so the ‘worlds’ (sense-fields, inner realms) regain equilibrium.
