पत्नीउवाच मदर्थं तेन नागेन सुता शप्ता सखी मम ।
मूका भविष्यसीत्याह सा च मूकत्वमागताः ॥
patnyuvāca madarthaṃ tena nāgena sutā śaptā sakhī mama | mūkā bhaviṣyasīty āha sā ca mūkatvam āgatāḥ ||
ഭാര്യ പറഞ്ഞു—“എന്റെ കാരണത്താൽ, പ്രിയനേ, ആ സഖിയായ കന്യയെ ആ നാഗൻ ശപിച്ചു—‘നീ മൂകയാകും’; അവൾ സത്യമായും മൂകതയിൽ പതിച്ചു.”
