Adhyaya 62 — The Fire-God Enters the Brahmin Youth; Varuthini’s Love-Sickness and Kali’s Disguise
कलिरुवाच किं करोमि क्रियाहानिर्भवत्यत्र सतो मम ।
त्वमप्येवंविधं वाक्यं ब्रवीषि तनुमध्यमे ॥
kalir uvāca kiṃ karomi kriyā-hānir bhavaty atra sato mama | tvam apy evaṃ-vidhaṃ vākyaṃ bravīṣi tanumadhyame ||
കാളി പറഞ്ഞു—ഞാൻ എന്തു ചെയ്യണം? ഇവിടെ, മറ്റെല്ലാം ധാർമ്മികയായ എനിക്കു പോലും, യഥോചിത കർമ്മ/വിധികളുടെ നഷ്ടം സംഭവിക്കുന്നു; നീയും, ഓ സുന്ദരസൂക്ഷ്മകടി, ഇങ്ങനെ പറയുന്നുവോ!

Kali claims ‘I am righteous’ while pursuing deception—an archetype of self-justifying adharma. The Purāṇic critique is that moral language can be used to protect egoic desire.

Kali’s ‘kriyā-hāni’ is the inner erosion of sādhana: when the mind wants both indulgence and the label of virtue. This split is a signature of the Kali principle.
