Adhyaya 61The Second Manvantara Begins: The Brahmin’s Swift Journey and Varuthini’s Temptation on Himavat

ब्राह्मण उवाच अष्टावात्मगुणा ये हि तेषामादौ दया द्विज ।

तां करोṣi कथं न त्वं मयि सद्धर्मपालक ॥

brāhmaṇa uvāca aṣṭāv ātma-guṇā ye hi teṣām ādau dayā dvija | tāṃ karoṣi kathaṃ na tvaṃ mayi saddharma-pālaka ||

ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ ദ്വിജ, ആത്മാവിന്റെ എട്ട് ഗുണങ്ങളിൽ ദയയാണ് ശ്രേഷ്ഠം. നീ സത്യധർമ്മം പാലിക്കുന്നവളെന്ന് പറയുമ്പോഴും, എനിക്കു നേരെ ആ ദയ എന്തുകൊണ്ട് കാണിക്കുന്നില്ല?
