Adhyaya 47 — Brahma’s Awakening and the Ninefold Scheme of Creation
यस्मात्तिर्यक्प्रवृत्तिः सा तिर्यक्स्रोतस्ततः स्मृतः ।
पश्वादयस्ते विख्यातास्तमः प्रायो ह्यवेदिनः ॥
yasmāt tiryakpravṛttiḥ sā tiryakstrotas tataḥ smṛtaḥ /
paśvādayas te vikhyātās tamaḥ prāyo hy avedinaḥ ||
അവരുടെ പ്രവർത്തനം വശത്തേക്കു (തിര്യകമായി) ഒഴുകുന്നതിനാൽ അവർ ‘തിര്യക്-സ്രോതസ്’ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. അവർ മൃഗാദികളായി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു; തമോഗുണപ്രധാനരും വിവേകരഹിതരുമാണ്.
