श्रद्धया परया दत्तं पितॄणां नामगोत्रतः ।

यदाहारास्तु ते जातास्तदाहारत्वमेति तत् ॥

പിതൃഗണങ്ങളെ അവരുടെ നാമവും ഗോത്രവും ചൊല്ലി പരമശ്രദ്ധയോടെ അർപ്പിക്കുന്ന ദാനം തന്നെയാണ് അവരുടെ ആഹാരമാകുന്നത്—അവർക്ക് യോജിക്കുന്ന പോഷണത്തിന്റെ ഏത് രൂപമോ, ആ അർപ്പണം അതേ രൂപ/സ്ഥിതിയിലേക്കു എത്തുന്നു.
