Adhyaya 32Rules for Parvana Śrāddha: Foods that Please the Ancestors and Items to Avoid

इति श्रीमार्कण्डेयपुराणेऽलर्कानुशासने पार्वणश्राद्धकल्पोनाम एकत्रिंशोऽध्यायः ।

द्वात्रिंशोऽध्यायः ।

मदालसोवाच ।

अतः परं शृणुष्वेमं पुत्र ! भक्त्या यदाहृतम् ।

पितॄणां प्रीतये यद्वा वर्ज्यं वा प्रीतिकारकम् ॥

iti śrīmārkaṇḍeyapurāṇe 'larkānuśāsane pārvaṇaśrāddhakalpo nāma ekatriṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ | dvātriṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ | madālasa uvāca | ataḥ paraṃ śṛṇuṣvemaṃ putra! bhaktyā yad āhṛtam | pitṝṇāṃ prītaye yad vā varjyaṃ vā prītikārakam ||

ഇങ്ങനെ ശ്രീമാർക്കണ്ഡേയപുരാണത്തിൽ അലർക്കോപദേശാന്തർഗതമായി ‘പാർവണ ശ്രാദ്ധവിധി’ എന്ന പേരിലുള്ള മുപ്പത്തൊന്നാം അധ്യായം സമാപിച്ചു. ഇനി മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടാം അധ്യായം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു. മദാലസ പറഞ്ഞു—ഇനി മുതൽ, എന്റെ മകനേ, ഭക്തിയോടെ കേൾക്കുക; പിതൃകൾക്ക് പ്രീതി നൽകുന്നതെന്ത്, എന്താണ് ഒഴിവാക്കേണ്ടത്, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ എന്താണ് അവരുടെ തൃപ്തി വർധിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് എന്ന ഉപദേശം.
