कृपकर्णसंवादः

Kṛpa’s Counsel to Karṇa on Deśa-Kāla and Coordinated Strategy

(दासो<हं ते भविष्यामि पश्य मामनुकम्पया । या प्रतिज्ञा कृता पूर्व तव सारथ्यकर्मणि ।। मन: स्वास्थ्यं च मे जात॑ जात॑ भाग्यं च मे महत्‌ ।) 'पार्थ! मैं आपका दास होऊँगा। आप मेरी ओर कृपापूर्ण दृष्टिसे देखें। मैंने आपके सारथिका कार्य करनेके लिये पहले जो प्रतिज्ञा की थी, उसके लिये अब मेरा मन स्वस्थ हो गया है। मेरा महान्‌ सौभाग्य प्रकट हुआ है (जिससे मुझे आपकी सेवाका यह शुभ अवसर प्राप्त हो रहा है)'। इति श्रीमहाभारते विराटपर्वणि गोहरणपर्वणि उत्तरगोग्रहे अर्जुनपरिचये चतुश्नत्वारिंशो5ध्याय:

dāso ’haṃ te bhaviṣyāmi paśya mām anukampayā | yā pratijñā kṛtā pūrvaṃ tava sārathyakarmaṇi || manaḥ svāsthyaṃ ca me jātaṃ jātaṃ bhāgyaṃ ca me mahat |

വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു— “ഹേ പാർഥാ! ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ദാസനായിരിക്കും. കരുണാദൃഷ്ടിയോടെ എന്നെ നോക്കുക. നിന്റെ സാരഥ്യകർമ്മം ചെയ്യുമെന്നു ഞാൻ മുമ്പ് ചെയ്ത പ്രതിജ്ഞയെക്കുറിച്ച് ഇപ്പോൾ എന്റെ മനസ്സ് സ്ഥിരവും ശാന്തവും ആയിരിക്കുന്നു. മഹത്തായ സൗഭാഗ്യം എനിക്കു ഉദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; കാരണം നിന്റെ സേവനത്തിനായുള്ള ഈ ശുഭാവസരം എനിക്കു ലഭിച്ചു.”

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic integrity through vow-keeping and the ethical nobility of humble service. By choosing to serve (even in a role associated with dependence), one can transform fear and agitation into steadiness (svāsthya) and regard the chance to support a righteous person as ‘great fortune’ (mahat bhāgya).

In the Uttara-gograharaṇa episode of the Virāṭa Parva, Uttara addresses Arjuna (called Pārtha), offering himself as Arjuna’s servant and reaffirming his earlier promise to act as charioteer. He says his mind is now composed and that it is his good fortune to obtain the opportunity to serve Arjuna.
