Uttara’s Fear and Arjuna’s Martial Reassertion

sa teṣāṁ rūpam ālokya bhoginām iva jṛmbhatām | hṛṣṭaromā bhayoddhignaḥ kṣaṇena samapadyata ||

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how fear can arise instantly upon perceiving overwhelming power, and how the body mirrors the mind (hair standing on end). Ethically, it points to the need for steadiness and discernment when confronted by intimidating appearances.

The narrator describes a person who, upon seeing the formidable appearance of certain beings—compared to serpents stretching—becomes immediately terrified and shaken, showing visible signs of fear.
