तदनीकं महत् तेषां विबभौ सागरोपमम् | सर्पमाणमिवाकाशे वन॑ बहुलपादपम्,उनकी वह विशालवाहिनी समुद्रके समान जान पड़ती थी। जब वह चलती, तब ऐसा जान पड़ता था, मानो आकाशमें असंख्य वृक्षोंसे भरा हुआ वन चल रहा हो
tad anīkaṃ mahat teṣāṃ vibabhau sāgaropamam | sarpamāṇam ivākāśe vanaṃ bahulapādapam ||
അവരുടെ ആ മഹാസൈന്യം സമുദ്രംപോലെ തന്നെ ഭാസിച്ചു. അത് മുന്നേറുമ്പോൾ, ആകാശത്ത് അനവധി വൃക്ഷങ്ങൾ നിറഞ്ഞ ഒരു ഘനവനം തന്നെ നീങ്ങുന്നതുപോലെ തോന്നി।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how collective force and organized power can appear overwhelming—like an ocean—reminding the listener that outward might and spectacle can shape perception and morale in war, even before combat begins.
The narrator describes the immense army’s advance. Its mass is compared to the ocean, and its moving standards, weapons, and ranks create the illusion of a dense forest drifting through the sky.
