Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 22 — Draupadī’s Abduction Attempt and Bhīma’s Suppression of the Kīcakas
वसन्ते वासिताहेतोर्बलवद्गजयोरिव । ऐसा कहकर महाबली भीमसेनने उसके पुष्पहार-विभूषित केश पकड़ लिये। कीचक भी बलवानोंमें श्रेष्ठ था। सिरके बाल पकड़ लिये जानेपर उसने बलपूर्वक झटका देकर उन्हें छुड़ा लिया और बड़ी फुर्तीसे पाण्डुनन्दन भीमको दोनों भुजाओंमें भर लिया। तदनन्तर क्रोधमें भरे हुए उन दोनों पुरुषसिंहोंमें बाहुयुद्ध होने लगा

വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു— വസന്തകാലത്ത് സുഗന്ധമുള്ള അഭിലഷിതമായ സഹചാരിണിക്കായി രണ്ട് മഹാബലമുള്ള ഗജരാജന്മാർ ഏറ്റുമുട്ടുന്നതുപോലെ, ആ രണ്ടു പുരുഷസിംഹങ്ങളും ക്രോധം കത്തിച്ച് കൈക്കളിയിൽ ഏർപ്പെട്ടു. മനുഷ്യരിൽ ശ്രേഷ്ഠനായ ഭീമസേനൻ പുഷ്പമാലകളാൽ അലങ്കരിച്ച കേശം പിടിച്ച് കീചകനെ പിടിച്ചു; എന്നാൽ കീചകരുടെ പ്രധാനനും സ്വയം മഹാബലവാനുമായ കീചകൻ ശക്തമായ ഒരു ഞെട്ടലിൽ കേശം വിടുവിച്ച്, ക്ഷണത്തിൽ തന്നെ ഇരുകൈകളാൽ ഭീമനെ ഞെരിക്കുന്ന ആലിംഗനത്തിൽ പൂട്ടി. പിന്നെ ജയലാലസയിൽ ഉഗ്രരായി അവർ പരസ്പരം പൊരുതി—വസന്തത്തിൽ ഹസ്തിനിക്കായി രണ്ട് ഗജരാജന്മാർ ധർമ്മവും അധിപത്യവും കുറിച്ച് ഏറ്റുമുട്ടുന്നതുപോലെ.
