Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 21 — Kīcaka’s clandestine approach and Bhīma’s covert intervention (नर्तनागारे कीचकवध-प्रसङ्गः)

दुहिता जनकस्यापि वैदेही यदि ते श्रुता । पतिमन्वचरत्‌ सीता महारण्यनिवासिनम्‌,जनकनन्दिनी वैदेही सीताका नाम तो तुम्हारे कानोंमें पड़ा ही होगा। उन्होंने अत्यन्त घोर वनमें निवास करनेवाले अपने पति श्रीरामचन्द्रजीका अनुगमन किया था

duhitā janakasyāpi vaidehī yadi te śrutā | patim anvacarat sītā mahāraṇya-nivāsinam ||

ജനകന്റെ പുത്രിയായ വൈദേഹി സീതയുടെ പേര് നീ കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടാകും. മഹാരണ്യത്തിൽ വസിച്ചിരുന്ന ഭർത്താവ് ശ്രീരാമനെ അവൾ അനുഗമിച്ചു—ദുഃഖത്തിനിടയിലും ധർമ്മത്തിൽ അചഞ്ചലമായി, പതിവ്രതയായി നിലകൊണ്ട്.
