राजापि च स्मयन्‌ भीमो मनसा समचिन्तयन्‌ । अधिकं योजनशतं तस्यागमनकारणम्‌,यह सुनकर राजा भीम भी मुसकरा दिये और मन-ही-मन सोचने लगे--'ये बहुत-से गाँवोंको लाँधकर सौ योजनसे भी अधिक दूर चले आये हैं, किंतु कार्य इन्होंने बहुत साधारण बतलाया है। फिर इनके आगमनका क्‍या कारण है, इसे मैं ठीक-ठीक न जान सका

Transliteration

rājāpi ca smayan bhīmo manasā samacintayan | adhikaṃ yojanaśataṃ tasyāgamanakāraṇam ||

Translation

ബൃഹദശ്വൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഇത് കേട്ട് രാജാവ് ഭീമൻ പുഞ്ചിരിച്ച് മനസ്സിൽ ചിന്തിച്ചു—“ഇവർ പല ഗ്രാമങ്ങളും കടന്ന് നൂറു യോജനത്തിലും അധികം ദൂരത്തിൽ നിന്ന് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാൽ കാര്യം ചെറുതെന്നുപോലെ പറയുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ഇവരുടെ വരവിന്റെ യഥാർത്ഥ കാരണം എന്ത്? എനിക്ക് വ്യക്തമായി ഗ്രഹിക്കാനാവുന്നില്ല.”
