यो<थीते गुरुशुश्रूषां मेधां चाष्टगुणा श्रयाम्‌ । ब्रह्मचर्येण दाक्ष्येण प्रसवैर्वयसापि च

yo ’thīte guruśuśrūṣāṁ medhāṁ cāṣṭaguṇāṁ śrayām | brahmacaryeṇa dākṣyeṇa prasavair vayasāpi ca

വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു— ഗുരുക്കന്മാരെ ഭക്തിയോടെ ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചവനും, അഷ്ടഗുണസമ്പന്നമായ തീക്ഷ്ണമേധയുടെ ആശ്രയം നേടിയവനും—ബ്രഹ്മചര്യനിയമം, പ്രവർത്തിദക്ഷത, ജീവിതഘട്ടങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള പാക്വത, വയസ്സിന്റെ ബലം എന്നിവകൊണ്ടും പിന്തുണയുള്ളവനും—ആ ദൗത്യത്തിന് യോഗ്യനാകുന്നു.
