कुन्त्युवाच यदि पुत्रो मम भवेत् त्वत्त: सर्वतमोनुद । कुण्डली कवची शूरो महाबाहुर्महाबल:,कुन्ती बोली--समस्त अन्धकारको दूर करनेवाले सूर्यदेव! यदि आपसे मुझे पुत्र प्राप्त हो तो वह महाबाहु, महाबली तथा कुण्डल और कवचसे विभूषित शूरवीर हो

കുന്തി പറഞ്ഞു—സകല അന്ധകാരവും അകറ്റുന്ന സൂര്യദേവാ! അങ്ങയിൽ നിന്നെനിക്ക് പുത്രൻ ഉണ്ടായാൽ, അവൻ കുണ്ഡലവും കവചവും ധരിച്ച ശൂരൻ, മഹാബാഹുവും മഹാബലവാനും ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ.
