योधयामासतुरुभौ रावर्णिं रामलक्ष्मणौ | यद्यपि रावणका पुत्र मायासे तिरोहित हो जानेके कारण दिखायी नहीं देता था, तो भी शूरवीर श्रीराम और लक्ष्मण दोनों भाई उसके साथ युद्ध करते ही रहे
yodhayāmāsatur ubhau rāvarṇiṃ rāma-lakṣmaṇau |
മാർക്കണ്ഡേയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രാമനും ലക്ഷ്മണനും ഇരുവരും രാവണപുത്രനോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു. ആ രാക്ഷസകുമാരൻ മായാബലത്തിൽ മറഞ്ഞതിനാൽ കാണപ്പെടാതിരുന്നുവെങ്കിലും, ആ രണ്ടു വീര സഹോദരരും യുദ്ധം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കാതെ നിരന്തരം അവനോടു ഏറ്റുമുട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
