Adhyāya 290: Kuntī’s Mantra-Parīkṣā and the Appearance of Sūrya (कुन्ती–सूर्यसंवादः)
त॑ लक्ष्मणो5 भ्यधावच्च प्रगृह्म सशरं धनु: । त्रासयंस्तलघोषेण सिंह: क्षुद्रमूगान् यथा,तब लक्ष्मण भी धनुषपर बाण चढ़ाये हुए उसकी ओर बड़े वेगसे दौड़े और सिंह जैसे छोटे मृगोंको डरा देता है, उसी प्रकार वे अपने धनुषकी टंकारसे सब राक्षसोंको त्रास देने लगे
taṁ lakṣmaṇo 'bhyadhāvac ca pragṛhya saśaraṁ dhanuḥ | trāsayaṁs talaghoṣeṇa siṁhaḥ kṣudramṛgān yathā ||
അപ്പോൾ ലക്ഷ്മണനും അമ്പു ഘടിപ്പിച്ച വില്ല് കൈയിൽ പിടിച്ച് അവന്റെ നേരെ വേഗത്തിൽ പാഞ്ഞു; വില്ലിന്റെ കഠിന നാദംകൊണ്ട് സിംഹം ചെറുമൃഗങ്ങളെ ഭീതിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതുപോലെ രാക്ഷസരെ വിറപ്പിച്ചു।
